Milk + Mini Donuts

It's trendy for a reason; miniature desserts are too c-u-t-e! We love all minis, but mini donuts paired with an adorable tiny milk bottle plus a cute, colorful straw are just too much! These would make a mega-fun lineup on any dessert table, or even better as an end of the night treat for guests. Another option would be to wrap them up in cellophane and twine for a bite-sized breakfast favor. The presentation options are about as endless as the flavor combinations. Give in to those Homer tendencies and order some mini donuts for your next event!

Bourbon Boy, Layered

We would like to introduce you to the Cakewalk Bourbon Boy. This cake is spiked with a bit of bourbon syrup and house butterscotch, leaving you with a warm and fuzzy feeling that's slightly salty, slightly boozy, and very Fall in flavor. We like to layer it thinly with butterscotch ganache and cover it all over with vanilla bean frosting. Fresh cherries make lovely toppers.

We Heart Wedding Planners!

We were honored to showcase some of our sweets at the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners' (AACWP) September meeting. It was so fun to meet new wedding professionals in the area, and then stuff them full of sugar. We had the joy of partnering up with new jazzy venue 7@150 (scheduled to open in October) and Lattes on Location. Mmmm...cake + cappuccino!

For the event, we put together two dessert bar samples, one rustic and the other playful and modern.

Mango Raspberry Macarons, Coconut Macaroons, Lemon Berry Tartlets and a Burnt Sugar Vanilla Bean Cake

Carrot Cake with Tangy Cream Cheese Frosting, Fig and Blackberry Mini Galettes, and Rugelach

If you are looking for some beautifully made and incredibly tasty coffee concoctions for your next event, check out Lattes on Location! We love them.

New Logo!

Cakewalk has a new logo...designed by Cakewalker General...hope you like it! Soon to be everywhere. Even the places you least expect. Shining brightly. Begging you to eat more cake!

Thiebaud Inspired

Wayne Thiebaud, Cakes, 1963 | Image via nga.gov

Happy to share this lovely little video from Sweet Honey Films, a peek into the world of the artist Wayne Thiebaud as translated into wedding theme. Inspired by the iconic pop still lifes of Thiebaud, (especially his cakes!) we collaborated on the design of this shoot with Bows and Arrows and After Yes Weddings, pulling from his use of color and light, symmetrical composition, and a feeling of playful whimsy. Beautiful images to come soon from Apryl Ann Photography, but for now, we hope you enjoy this sweet video as much as we do!

DIY: Summer POPS!

The crazy summer heat by no means belongs to the stable of southern charms we Texans are proud of, but it is a great excuse to make refreshing treats for friends and family. And nothing fits the bill more so than an icy-cold popsicle, the ultimate throwback summer treat. Read on for my DIY tutorial on how to make a bit of a grown up pop (one flavored with green tea and fresh herbs,) that is every bit as refreshing as anything you ever pulled out of your grandma's freezer.
