The Future is Now

We have begun work on our mobile storefront...a vintage 1960's canned meat trailer! She is going to get a complete paint job and some aesthetic detailing, and needs a little more kitchen equipping...but she will be ready sooner than you think. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for early September. The plan is then to share our sweets with the lovely citizens of Fort Worth, with regular rotation in a few neighborhoods, and offer our trailer as a funky serving piece for weddings and special events.

Top it Off: Cute + Funky Cake Toppers

Today I guest blog on Hello, Love about fun contemporary cake topper choices. These don't just apply to weddings either...many of these can be used for any party or happy day! Check out my post and my cake topper pin board to find more toppin' inspiration.

This little vintage poodle was a fun thrift find and a perfect fit for a modern pop inspired cake. Growing up, I remember my mother and grandmother had beautiful antique china cabinets full of interesting treasures like this little guy. Using a family heirloom can be a sweet way to impart a bit of your own family tradition into your special day.  Of course, a random thrift store find can be just as fun.

I love the idea of using candy with cakes: it adds an immediate punch of color and a playful, nostalgic vibe to your dessert spread. These British Liquorice pieces are almost an art form in themselves and give this cake a sculptural, artful look. Perfect for a candy-themed dessert bar, or an art-centric event.

Just Peachy

A trip to the Parker County Peach Festival inspired a host of peachy treats this week, including: pies, crisps, and turnovers. I love working with fresh peaches for the rich variation of color, melt in your mouth texture, their compatibility with spice, and the fact that they are a local abundance in season. The perfect fit for a North Texas summer event. Or a visit with grandma.

A Fairyland Feast

I'm thrilled to share a few gorgeous photos of the indulgences we created for the Midsummer Night's Dream inspired shoot we were a part of earlier this summer. I can still remember being blown away by the gorgeous, whimsical set; it was truly enchanting. Candlelight cluttered forest walkways and hung suspended from trees...a golden pig bathed in luscious flowers...earthy ornamentation abounded everything in sight...

Strawberry Macaroon Tart

Mmmm...a chewy meringue twist on a strawberry tart with a big ole almond macaroon crust, organic blackberry compote and fresh strawberries.
