It's time for the Prom!

Come one and all to celebrate our first year anniversary in 50's style!

We have a super swell retro-inspired dessert menu. We have a big box of sweets to raffle off. We have a CAKE WALK in the works!

And that's just us.

There's also: crazy cool decor that will make your eyes drool by Bows and Arrows, savory bites from The Grape restaurant, 50's tunes to dance the night away provided by Dallas Gigs, photo booth fun by Flock Together Photo Booths, you can get your hair did in a signature 50's style by the talented gals from Shampoo Salon, and, um, well, if you need more, I'm not sure you will ever be satisfied. Because this is a lot and it is all so wonderful. So go on now and RSVP. You won't want to miss this chance to step back in time and party like your mama, or grandmama, or both.

November Weddings

A little peek at some of our favorite wedding cakes from November:

Melanie + Kevin's Buttermilk Cake with layers of Strawberry and Mint Buttercream, and frosted with Vanilla Buttercream. Love fresh blooms with buttercream cakes!

 ___

Twinkle + TJ's wedding was full of style! They wanted cakes that were both beautiful and a little playful. Hers was a buttermilk cake with layers of lemon curd, roasted strawberries, and strawberry buttercream, frosted in an ombre burnt sugar buttercream.

His cake was dark chocolate espresso with layers of hazelnut ganache and espresso buttercream, with a dark chocolate ganache drip. Don't you love this fun cake stand a la Anthropologie?  We also put together a dessert bar full of twinkies and coconut macaroons - the pair's favorite sweets.

 ___

Jayme + Mitch wanted something a little vintage and a non-traditional display that would showcase their unique design perspective. I love when brides opt for a table full of small cakes for a big wedding rather than towering designs; it just looks so lush and approachable.

She wanted fresh, bright flavors and wasn't scared of something a little different - lemon poppy cake with raspberry buttercream and basil buttercream.

His cakes celebrated one of his favorite flavor combinations: mint and chocolate! We made dark chocolate cakes, layered with our fresh mint buttercream (no artificial flavors here!) and topped a few with dark chocolate ganache.

Natalie and Nic, a chef and an artist, lived in New York before landing in Dallas, and Natalie wanted a cake inspired by her favorite NYC bakery - Momofuku! Christina Tosi is so inspiring, so I was more than excited to put together a cake in her honor. Flavor ruled this cake - and guests could choose their favorite flavor amongst the three tiers to try. So fun.

The top tier is a Mexican chocolate cake with espresso buttercream and cinnamon streusel; the middle tier is a bourbon cake with dark cherry compote, graham cracker buttercream, and milk crumb; the bottom tier is a confetti cake with vanilla bean buttercream and confetti cake crumble.

COLOR shoot on WEDDING CHICKS!

Weeeeee! Inspired by a shared crazy love of color, whimsy and craft, we designed a photo shoot with Bows and Arrows that would celebrate these elements to the extreme! It has been one of my favorite projects so far and when you check out these gorgeous images shot by Ben Q Photography, your heart is guaranteed to double in size. Fo Real. This stuff is filled to the brim with merriment. Non-traditional in every way - incorporating ideas like these into your big day will surely make your event one to wow, charm, and remember forever ever. To make it even sweeter, the super rad blog Wedding Chicks featured our shoot this week!! To see so much more wonder, check out the feature here.

Pack color into your cake! homemade confetti cake bursting with flavors of raspberry and lemon buttercream
How AMAZING is this reception decor?? Bows and Arrows literally turned the idea of a centerpiece on its head with these chandelier carnation installations that look like works of art.
This adorable little favor box with calligraphy by Blue Eye Brown Eye holds one of our French macarons. Cutie plating by Kate Spade with runners by Love Dove Rentals.
Our dessert bar is obviously inspired by color, but using asymmetry and stacking add lots of whimsy on their own. The donuts with strawberry glaze are a fun, playful touch - we LOVE unexpected desserts and so do guests!

How INCREDIBLE is this invitation suite from Blue Eye Brown Eye?? That girl is so talented!

Super fun paper flower archway and a geometrical petal aisle crafted by fab Bows and Arrows, of course.
Kirby Stuart, Bows and Arrows new Creative Director, is a fashion queen. She styled both the bride and groom! Love this Kate Spade dress and Ban.do hair piece!!

Cakewalk + Michaels = LOVE

Michaels is one of those places we end up on almost a weekly basis (for better or worse). Something about all those orderly aisles of crafty bounty just makes me feel good. So, to be asked to create some wedding cakes and treats for their 2013 wedding ads was BEYOND COOL.

With Bows and Arrows on art design, we participated in three themed shoots: Heirloom Romance, Rustic Farm, and Whimsical Carnival! Eee! So fun! Keep your eyes peeled in the new year for this sweet collaboration! Until then, here's a little sneak peek from our Michaels' Week.

Heirloom Romance: vintage buttercream cake +  colorful French macarons + gum paste flower petit fours

Rustic Farm: Bundt Cake Bar and Biscuit Bar with jams and specialty honeys.

Whimsical Carnival: Donut + Popcorn Croquembouche,  Twinkies, Snowballs, Meringue Ferris Wheel Cupcakes, and Candy Popcorn

Fall Treats at Thursday Therapy Anniversary

The Thursday Therapy one year anniversary party was so much fun! So happy to be able to share our treats with some of Fort Worth's finest wedding professionals. So much talent, so many cool venues, such fun energy amongst this group.

Celebrating the Season with Pumpkin Pie Pops
Speaking of cool venues...we are CRAZY about Fort Worth's new whiskey distillery - Firestone & Robertson!!! It is such a gorgeous, drool-worthy venue space with walls collaged of wood cuts, exposed ceilings, and a sharp, design-focused urban flair that is still so very Fort Worth. Their whiskey is so tasty that we proudly feature it in our Whiskey Cake and Chocolate Pecan Whiskey Cake Truffles! Check their site for an opportunity to tour the space and participate in a tasting.

Sweet little Jam Tarts in Apricot and Cherry

These Carrot Cake Truffles won many a heart with their rich milky and spice flavor.

S'mores Tartlets are Emily's favorite treat!

The Spread: Smore's Tarlets, Whiskey Truffles, Carrot Cake Truffles, Jam Tarts and Pie Pops.

BIG thanks to Lavender Joy's Stefanie Miles and Kate Foley of Kate Foley Designs for asking us to participate and for putting together such a fun and beautiful event.
